What is the primary quality of a great leader?
Ryan Napierski, President, Nu Skin
In my experience, I’ve worked with many people who are great at executing on a vision. There are fewer who can develop a clear and strong vision that is founded upon solid trends and refined by assumptions. And then there are those rare people who can create the vision; inspire others to see, believe and work toward that same vision, and execute on it. These are the truly great leaders who can create a strong vision and clearly articulate the path forward in a world that is unpredictable and rapidly changing, and then lead others as they work together to create the envisioned future.
Laura Beitler, Vice President of Sales, Mary Kay, Inc.
I believe the primary quality of a great leader is the ability to lead by example and lift up others along the way. Our founder, Mary Kay Ash, perfectly embodied this principle and changed the world by creating more opportunities for women and putting them in control of their destiny, in the same way she took charge of her own career path. In my opinion, her use of the Golden Rule as the foundation of her leadership philosophy allowed her to become one of the world’s most impactful entrepreneurs and leaders. I believe the ability to empower others is a key to success for leaders at Mary Kay and beyond.
